Tanis Group Realty held a bus tour to help people find “good” foreclosed homes in the Elgin area.
The mortgage guy on the bus, Gene Walters, from HomeTrust Mortgage Corp. in Schaumburg, tied the tour in with Halloween and served as the “professional ghost hunter and was there to explain the mortgage process when buying a foreclosed home as well as tell of local haunts in the Elgin area.”
The tour made its way through Elgin, to Algonquin and Lake in the Hills and then ended at The Public House in Elgin.
Along the way, participants saw several homes that were foreclosed on by banks, Fannie Mae and HUD. The tour was an educational one where passengers learned what to expect when buying a home either as an investment or to be lived in by the purchaser.
Also on the tour to assist were Joe Mueller, owner of Tanis Group Realty, Doug Kowalewski, a real estate broker with Tanis Group Realty, Walters and Rachel Newby, a real estate attorney.
Passengers previewed each home and in between stops the speakers explained the process and answered questions.
During the longer rides in between homes, stories about alleged haunted locations in Elgin were told.
Additional tours will be planned in the future. For more, call Tanis Group Realty at (224) 484-8315.
