Are you planning a corporate gathering this holiday season?
Whether it’s an annual shareholders meeting, a party for your staff or a leadership retreat, there are an array of venues to hold the event in Lake County.
Here are profiles of three of the county’s more popular spots for business meetings and parties.
Independence Grove
The 1,151-acre Independence Grove Forest Preserve near Libertyville offers more than exercise trails and a scenic lake.
It’s also home to a modern banquet facility that can accommodate groups of 1,000 people or more — or as small as 10.
Butlered cocktail parties, buffets and multicourse plated meals are among the possibilities at Independence Grove.
“Independence Grove can accommodate almost any event with ease,” Event Coordinator Dan Straus said.
Gathering space is in the visitors center near the preserve’s beach and lake.
The space features a large hearth and a fireplace, an exposed timber ceiling and large windows for views of the scenery.
“The entire western exposure and far north end of the venue are covered outdoor patios allowing for a truly unique experience,” Straus said. “(The features) give our guests the feel of a ski lodge and not that of a banquet hall in the suburbs.”
Food and drink are handled by Catering by Michael’s, the company that’s had the contract since the preserve opened more than a decade ago.
Independence Grove is at 16400 Buckley Road. For more information, call (847) 247-1111 or visit www.eventsatindependencegrove.com.
Lincolnshire Marriott
“Big” doesn’t begin to describe the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. With more than 40,000 square feet of recently renovated meeting space, the property can host groups of up to 1,300 people.
Dining options include a lobby restaurant and bar called Brew, steaks and seafood at King’s Wharf Restaurant, Midwestern cuisine at the Fairfield Inn Restaurant and sandwiches at Crane’s Landing Bar & Grill, which is open seasonally in the golf clubhouse.
These days, having an event often requires PowerPoint presentations and wireless computer access. The Lincolnshire Marriott has you covered.
Earlier this year, the resort implemented technology and infrastructure improvements to boost Wi-Fi and other high-tech services.
“Our cutting edge Wi-Fi technology can support over 400 users simultaneously and has the bandwidth to download a 150 MB file in less than a minute,” said Julie Mash, a senior marketing manager with Marriott International.
The resort also features an 18-hole golf course, tennis, pools, trails, guest rooms and the award-winning Marriott Theatre.
The Lincolnshire Marriott Resort is at 10 Marriott Drive. For more information, call (847) 634-0100 or visit www.marriott.com/hotels/event-planning/travel/chiln-lincolnshire-marriott-resort.
Royal Melbourne
Protected by a gated entrance, the Royal Melbourne Country Club in Long Grove is a private organization — but the banquet facilities it offers are open to the public.
The grand ballroom can hold up to 240 guests, while smaller private rooms at the clubhouse can accommodate groups ranging from 16 to 60 people.
The grand ballroom includes a private veranda that overlooks the golf course. It offers the opportunity for an outdoor cocktail hour, said Sales and Marketing Director Michelle McKnight.
“The spectacular views overlooking the beautiful landscape set a romantic ambience for your guests to mingle and enjoy,” McKnight said.
Dining options range from casual buffets to plated meals. McKnight described the menu as creative and contemporary.
“The catering team at Royal Melbourne Country Club can satisfy any palate,” McKnight said.
