  An interview with Judi Bolek Montgomery, sales manager at DuPage Expo & Hilton Garden Inn St. Charles.

Q: Tell us about the business.
A: DuPage Expo offers Midwest trade shows and events with more than 23,000 square feet of column-free carpeted space and four acres of grounds. The facility offers on-site concessions and complimentary Wi-Fi and parking. The venue features trade shows, product launches, conventions, indoor sport competitions and special events.

Q: Tell us about the DuPage Expo campus.
A: Our campus is conveniently tucked off Route 64 and a short distance from major expressways and downtown St. Charles. The DuPage Expo is the Western suburbs’ secret gem. The Expo resides on the Hilton Garden Inn, St. Charles, property which is equipped with robust training and exhibit facilities.  

Q: Tell us a little bit of history about the site that was originally a farm.
A: In the early 1960s, the McArdle family owned the farm and turned the barn into an indoor riding/polo facility. In the early 70s the site became an indoor/outdoor tennis facility and then became host for a flea market prior to Kane County. It was then used randomly to host events in the area, which sparked the idea for its current use.

Q: How did that happen?
A: The McArdle family developed the DuPage Expo Center in 2004 when they saw a need for more exhibit space in the Western suburbs, especially in the DuPage area. This is how the center was named. The family spent $3 million on the renovation of the venue.

Q: What type of shows are hosted here?
A: The DuPage Expo is versatile and has hosted many types of clients from dog/exotic pet shows to antiques, gymnastics, circus, car shows. DuPage Expo patrons were thrilled to meet actor, Tommy Flanagan, of Sons of Anarchy as he signed autographs at the Chicago Super Motorcycle Show in January of this year.

Q: What is ahead for next year in terms of shows?
A: Our 2014 calendar boasts with returning satisfied clients, as well as new ones. The Special Needs Expo is excited to host their first launch show with us on May 3, 2014. Our venue also hosts photo shoots, corporate training meetings & fundraising events. All event food & beverage needs are serviced on campus through our team members at the Hilton Garden Inn, St. Charles.
