Boehmer Automotive was honored for 100 years of business in Wauconda during the recent Wauconda Chamber of Commerce installation and awards meeting. Mayor Mark Knigge presented owner Steve Boehmer with a symbolic gold key to the village.
WAUCONDA -- The Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed three new directors and a selected a new president during its installation and awards celebration held recently at Berger’s Excavating in Wauconda.
Serving as President for 2013 is Ralph Schmidt of Schmidt Engineering, Inc.; Vice President is Don Kutinac of  Wauconda American Legion Post 911; Secretary is Carol Nichele of Wauconda Boat; and Treasurer is Monica Jablonski of Vickie’s personal Touch/Energee Center.
Also installed were newly elected Directors Brian Linning of Bark N’ Town Pet Resort & Spa; Ed Lochmayer of Edlin, Inc., and Debra Myers of LegalShield.
The Chamber and Village of Wauconda surprised the Boehmer family of Boehmer Automotive by honoring them for the start of their 100th year of business in Wauconda. Mayor Mark Knigge presented owner Steve Boehmer with a symbolic gold key to the village. The Boehmer family was also instrumental in starting the Wauconda Chamber of Commerce 60 years ago when Kenneth Boehmer, Steve’s father, became one of the charter members for the organization in 1953.
The Chamber also honored outstanding businesses and community leaders. The Pinnacle Award, which recognizes an individual’s devotion of extraordinary time and effort to their community to improve the quality of life for others, was presented to Wauconda business owner, Christine Rowe of Casten Auto Body.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes a Chamber member who demonstrates a commitment to the social and economic development of the Chamber through participation at and financial support of Chamber programs and events, was presented to Louie Sharp of Sharp Auto Body.
A new category, the Chamber Cares Award recognized the Wauconda Lion’s Club for its exceptional support and leadership for citizens in the Wauconda area communities through the enhancement of their quality of lives.
The Acres Group received the Outstanding Large Business Award, and State Farm Insurance – Agent Mike Hansen  received the Outstanding Small Business Award. Middleton’s on Main restaurant received the Chamber’s New Entrepreneur Award. Three people received the Chamber’s Shining Star Award for reaching above and beyond in job performance and demonstrating a commitment to their business/organization and its support of the community:  Bill Glade, Brian Linning and Don Kutinac.
