ALSIP -- Sertoma Centre, Inc. a social service agency serving individuals with disabilities which depends on the community for support., recently delivered a vanload of non-perishable items to Together We Cope in Tinley Park.
This is the third food drive and the second year the agency donated to Together We Cope.
Together We Cope is a not-for–profit that serves families and individuals who are going through a crisis. The organization provides clothing, food, financial assistance and guides families in more than 20 communities throughout Bremen, Palos, Orland and Worth townships.
The drive was overseen by Sertoma United, Sertoma’s self advocacy program which encourages its members to advocate for themselves and others.
“I want to thank Together We Cope for helping to get food to those people who need it, said Sertoma United member Derrick Hudson. "I would like to participate with Together We Cope more in the future.”
The program seeks to teach individuals with disabilities at Sertoma Centre the skills to advocate for their goals and desires in life.
