Mary Murphy has been named regional vice president for nursing with Adventist Midwest Health in Hinsdale. Murphy is currently vice president and chief nursing officer at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, a position she has held since 2008. Prior to that, Murphy worked as vice president and chief nursing officer at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, where she had also worked as director of emergency services. Murphy helped oversee a $10 million renovation of the emergency department at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital. That project was completed in 2007. A Westchester resident, Murphy began her nursing career in 1982 at Walther Memorial Hospital. In 1986, she moved to the trauma unit at Cook County Hospital. Two years later, Murphy joined the Loyola Lifestar Aeromedical Program as a flight nurse, treating patients as they were being transported to the hospital. She joined Adventist Midwest Health in 2001. Murphy has a master’s degree in nursing from Loyola University and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the same university. In 2006, she served as the regional president of the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders and has held memberships with the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the National Flight Nurses Association.
