One dozen are only $10 on that day (preorders are encouraged). The first 50 guests on Saturday (the Oak Brook location opens at 8 a.m.) will get a free T-shirt. Olive Garden's Pasta Pass

How about unlimited Olive Garden pasta for a year? Or for eight weeks? Olive Garden is selling 1,000 yearlong Pasta Passes for $300 each. They go on sale at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at pastapass.com/. For $100, customers can buy the eight-week Pasta Pass, which will only be available to purchase for 30 minutes starting at 1 p.m. Thursday. There will only be 23,000 eight-week passes available. Kids' cooking class

With school starting, why not have your kids learn how to make some healthy snacks for themselves? Kids ages 5 to 12 can do just that at Maggiano's back-to-school kids' cooking class from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Executive chef Michael Gusanders will lead this hands-on experience, which will include making no-bake monster cookie energy bites and no-bake unicorn energy bites (gluten-free and peanut-free). A breakfast buffet will be served. Tickets, which cost $25 for adults and $15 for kids plus tax and gratuity, include a chef hat to decorate, an apron, a recipe card and a goody bag. For beer lovers

Love beer but don't know much about the beer-making process? The Museums at Lisle Station Park and Downers Grove's Alter Brewing Company are ready to teach you at their Harvesting History event from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Participants will meet at The Museums at Lisle Station Park, 921 School St., to harvest hops from the museum's four-square garden before being transported to Alter Brewing Company to tour the brewery and drop off the hops for use in a new beer. While at Alter, brew masters will give beer-tasting tips while participants sample a few of Alter's craft beers. Shuttles will return to The Museums at Lisle Station Park at 3 and 3:30 p.m. The event costs $30. The brew made with the harvested hops will be featured at a future Alter tapping event and at a Games & Grub night from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 27. Step up your grilling game

In a grilling rut? Take your skills to another level at Chef Adam's Grilling Class at Naperville's City Gate Grille. The two-hour class, which runs from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, includes a discussion, a three-course dinner, and tax and gratuity. The menu features grilled scallops with citrus herb pesto appetizer, a dual-entree course of grilled blackened salmon and whole branzino and grilled Bananas Foster for dessert. It's $45 per person. Fermentation Fest

The Resiliency Institute's Fermentation Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Skeleton Key Brewery is like no other fest around. Taste locally crafted fermented brews such as mead, gruit, tepache, sodas, kombucha and ale from Skeleton Key, Oaken Shell Meadery, Werk Force Brewing Co. and Scratch Brewing Company while noshing on fermented appetizers from Pain de Chicago. Ellyn Schmitz, Bioregional Herbalism instructor, will give a brief fermentation presentation with samples to try. Plus listen to live music from JD Kostyk, bid on silent auction items and more. Tickets costs $45. They include three samples of alcoholic brews and three samples of nonalcoholic brews, appetizers and a tasting glass. Proceeds benefit The Resiliency Institute.
